Wooroonooran National Park is located half an hour drive south of Cairns city. It offers stunning pristine rainforest with fantastic World Heritage attractions including Australia's most spectacular canopy walk. This area of unsurpassed beauty contains the 2 highest mountains in Queensland, numerous rivers, waterfalls, swimming holes and some of the World's lushest and most ancient rainforests.
You can revitalise yourself in tranquil rainforest settings. In addition to the educational first-hand rainforest experience, the tour also includes fun activities you may never have experienced before. You will have a fantastic time in the diverse locations described below. Brilliant photographic opportunities abound at each location. This tour will provide you with awesome lifetime memories.
Babinda Boulders:
We walk along a rainforest path to the magnificent, breath taking granite gorge created in millions of years and listen to the ancient Aboriginal legend about the creation of the Boulders. Learn about the evolution of one of the World's oldest rainforests.
Josephine Falls:
Josephine Falls is a secluded freshwater swimming hole, located at the foot of Queensland's tallest mountain, Mt. Bartle Frere (1622m). A series of waterfalls flow into large pools surrounded by boulders. Rainforest trees hang over the water, keeping it cool and refreshing. We take a short walk to a series of dramatic cascading waterfalls amidst the lush tropical rainforest. Take the plunge in the exciting natural rockslide (life vests are provided for children).
Roscoe's Restaurant:
Enjoy the finest lunch on a tour in North Queensland, an Australian-Italian buffet with a great variety of exquisite dishes. Outstanding dessert buffet!
Mamu Canopy Walkway
Experience one of Australia's grandest man-made structures in a natural environment. With its combination of a canopy walk high in the tree tops, an observation tower, viewing decks and cantilever, it brings you close to new unexplored spheres of the rainforest. Take in the exhilarating vistas of the Johnstone River gorge and amazing surrounding World Heritage landscapes.
Lake Eacham
Tantalise your senses with a swim and enjoy the wondrous magical waters of this old volcanic crater lake on a whole different altitude in the Cairns Highlands (Atherton Tablelands). Swim and snorkel in the lake (masks and snorkels provided). Be amazed at the size of the Jungle perch, Water Dragons and Turtles that swim with you. Look in wonder at the stunning veil of mighty ancient rainforest giants that wrap themselves around the lake. This is a bird watchers paradise, and is home to the mighty Cassowary, the king of all rainforest birds.
